Therapy in Manchester
I’m a BACP Registered Member therapist in Manchester city centre, with online counselling also available. Inclusive, compassionate therapy for long or short term.
How therapy can help you
I’m a Manchester based therapist who can help with depression, anxiety, trauma, experiences of abuse or domestic violence, bereavement, feeling stuck or lonely, overwhelmed, low self-esteem or needing to work through a big life change.
I work with adults one on one in an inclusive, non-judgemental way. I’m an LGBTQIA+ friendly therapist, and can work with those who practice non-monogamy. If you’re unsure where to start, you can read more below or some useful information here. I offer a free no obligation call, and I’m happy to answer questions about how I work as a therapist and help you start your counselling journey.
Domestic abuse/violence therapy
I have trained specifically in therapy for those who’ve experienced domestic abuse, and work with the Salford Domestic Abuse Service. If you have experienced this kind of trauma, please get in touch.
What therapy with me is like:
As a counsellor I am very relational, based on building a relationship and safe space that allows us to dig into your feelings and experiences to work through them, and gain clarity, understanding and self-acceptance. I like to get to know all the things that make you who you are - tears, anger, laughter and everything in between. I am friendly and curious about you.
Getting started:
We will start by agreeing what the therapy will involve and what you would like to get out of it, and will regularly review to make sure we’re aligned about the therapy, goals and endings.
If you’re nervous about starting therapy or don’t know what to expect in the first session, I will help you! It is my job to explain the process and help you find a way to be comfortable talking and opening up to me. I will work to help you feel safe in yourself in sessions, so that you are able to explore the more difficult thoughts or feelings.
Moving forward:
If it’s therapy for trauma, we will discuss working safely within your tolerance, and I will never push you to discuss things in a way that could be harmful to you.
Week by week we will discuss you - your current situation and emotions, ways that events in your past might have affected you, patterns that you would like to change, the way you see yourself and feel about yourself, to 1) help you understand yourself better and be kinder to yourself and 2) identify the ways that you can change your thoughts or actions to live your life the way you would like to.
““When I accept myself just as I am, then I can change””
Online or face to face?
Having therapy online on Microsoft Teams or Zoom is a popular option which can allow more flexibility, particularly around work and home life schedules. If you choose online, we’ll talk through how to get the most out of it.
